Whiteways & Bignor Hill Loop (17-01-09)

Fun single track in the woods and a fabulous example of a Roman road (jeeez what a geek). Super muddy in the southwest section - avoid that in the winter.

  1. I could have happily spent the entire day negotiating paths through the pine wood at speed! Eventually though, we did push on to take in several up hills sections until reaching the Roman road.

My prevailing memory of this route is of mud, mud and more hip-deep mud, which regularly stopped wheels turning and had us carrying super heavy bikes! We only managed thirteen miles on this trip out and I would advise choosing your route very carefully when these conditions occur.

This one is worth a second go, on a more carefully chosen route and in better conditions, if only for the technical paths through the trees.
